The short version

What is actually installed

Each watch face is published in the Watch Face Format, a declarative format made of drawing instructions rather than a program. Concretely, the installed package contains:

• No executable code. There are no compiled classes in the package; it is declared as hasCode="false".
• No Android permissions. The package requests none at all — not location, not sensors, not storage, not network.
• No network access. Without the internet permission, the watch face cannot open a connection even in principle.
• No background services or receivers. Nothing runs except the drawing itself, while the face is on screen.

Information shown on the watch face

A watch face can display readings that come from your watch: the time, the battery level, a step count, a heart rate, the weather, your next calendar event. You choose which of these to show.

That information is supplied by Wear OS and drawn on your screen at the moment it is displayed. The watch face does not keep a copy of it, does not write it anywhere, and cannot send it off the device. When the value changes, the old one is simply no longer drawn.

Where a reading comes from another app you have installed — a health app, a weather app, a calendar — that app is the one handling your data, under its own privacy policy.

Children

These watch faces are suitable for all ages. Because they collect no data at all, they collect nothing from children either.

Changes to this policy

If a future watch face ever needs to handle data differently, this page will be updated before that version is published, and the date at the top will change.
